About the team
The R&D team is responsible for the execution of the engineering solutions end to end across the organization. Providing space and ground infrastructure for the company operations to build the foundational company products.
As of the Quality department you will be reporting to the R&D chief engineer.
Our mission is to deliver quality projects, drive and improve the capabilities of the technology we have and will design in the future for our hardware and software and the engineering tools and methodology..
The team is always learning and trying to push the limits, relying in part on the large diversity of people’s profiles and backgrounds.
About the position
The Head of R&D Quality is a skilled professional who designs, implements and maintains the tools that build the whole engineering framework of work impacting the operations and providing a high level of tracking of all the projects in R&D for the clients of the company. As the team leader of this team you will be in charge of the creation of the team and development of the people inside.
The Area is divided into four core functional responsibilities:
- Change Control Management (CCM): Responsible for managing the configuration of our products, including change control, deviations, and waivers.
- Reliability Engineering: Responsible for ensuring that systems, subsystems, and components meet reliability and performance objectives throughout their lifecycle.
- Process & Project Governance (PMO): Responsible for standardizing project management methodologies and frameworks, providing support, and monitoring project performance.
- Release Management: Responsible for the planning, control, and execution of product software releases.
In Scope
- Process Design & Management:
- Design, define, and maintain cross-functional frameworks and processes (deviations, waivers, change control, and risks).
- Define approval and governance workflows for changes and model iterations.
- Develop and maintain configuration management processes (traceability, baselines, audits).
- Define standards for parts classification and document coding.
- Define and audit project management standards for the organization.
- Systems & Administration:
- Implement and administer the PLM system.
- Manage and administer collaborative spaces for teams to validate releases and complex changes.
- Coordinate the creation of Manufacturing BOMs (Bills of Materials).
- Approve the creation of Part Numbers (PNs).
- Coordination & Information:
- Design and ensure the implementation of information flows between design, manufacturing, software, in-flight operations, quality, and procurement.
- Organize and facilitate key project reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR).
- Monitor project status to ensure visibility into risks, costs, and schedules.
- Track client and ground station releases
You will oversee the execution, maintenance and continuous improvement plan of the above as well as the measurement and performance of the execution inside the R&D Team in Satellogic. Will be directly involved in the strategic decisions of the area and the general support of the excellence in the deliverables.

About you
Experience & knowledge
- Degree in Engineering or similar field of study or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in digital transformation, manufacturing and engineering processes.
- Designing tools and processes for engineering pipelines and engineering tools.
- Budget and Planning knowledge.
- 3+ years mandatory experience in teamwork, designing and executing projects guiding a team.
- 5+ years of experience as engineer on technical environments with multidisciplinary teams in aerospace applications.
Skills

- Familiar with agile methodologies.
- Strong negotiation skills, proactivity and strategic comprehension.
- Ability to deal with a constantly changing environment.
- Capacity to learn continuously and passion for pushing the limits.
- Advanced English proficiency levels.
- Understand the process of manufacturing and design of a product and production lines.
- Understanding the process of developing code is desirable. General basic software understanding.
- Understand the process of designing hardware and operate it under the requirements.
- Manufacturing Tools implementation experience.
