The team

The Dealing Team within the Trading Group is responsible for developing and managing some of Kraken’s regulated derivative products, allowing our clients to gain exposure to interest/income-bearing securities through our low latency APIs and high-performance user interfaces. This team plays a crucial role in regulated European markets under CySEC oversight.

The opportunity

  • As the Head of Dealing, you will be instrumental in establishing and growing our dealing on account permission products, ensuring compliance with CySEC regulations while driving business growth. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Lead the development and implementation of the overall dealing on account product strategy, roadmap, and business plan

    • Oversee the design and execution of derivative contracts, ensuring compliance with CySEC regulations and MiFID II requirements and regulatory reporting requirements

    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define detailed product and business requirements, with a focus on risk management and regulatory compliance

    • Manage the relationship with CySEC, ensuring ongoing compliance with dealing on account permissions and related regulations

    • Work closely with the Compliance and Risk Officers of the European derivatives entity to maintain regulatory standards

    • Oversee a robust risk management strategies for hedging the company's exposure from derivative contracts

    • Oversee the creation and maintenance of Key Information Documents (KIDs) for derivative contracts

    • Lead the development of internal policies and procedures related to dealing activities

    • Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for product enhancement and expansion

    • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop strategies for promoting the dealing on account products within regulatory constraints

    • Foster a culture of compliance and innovation

    • Maintain accurate records of all dealing activities

    • Participate in regulatory audits and examinations, providing necessary documentation and explanations of our dealing activities

Skills you should HODL

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a senior role within derivatives trading or related financial products

  • In-depth knowledge of CySEC regulations, particularly those related to dealing on account permissions and MiFID II

  • Experience working within a MiFID II regulated firm

  • Experience with Total Return Swaps and leveraged financial instruments

  • CySEC Advanced certification

  • Proven track record of managing derivative products in a regulated environment

  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and practices in the context of derivatives trading

  • Experience in cryptocurrency markets and understanding of blockchain technology

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data

  • Proficiency in financial modelling and valuation techniques for derivative products

  • Familiarity with trading systems, APIs, and market data platforms

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to various stakeholders

Nice to haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field

  • Experience working with CySEC or other European financial regulators

  • Knowledge of cryptocurrency derivatives and their unique market dynamics

  • Understanding of market making and liquidity provision in derivatives markets

  • Experience in implementing and managing automated trading systems
